ETHEL SOPHIA CONNER WELLS
Ethel Sophia Conner Wells, daughter of William and Laura Conner, was born in Lucas County, Ia., on June 10, 1888. She passed away on May 10, 1964, at Yocom hospital at the age of 75 years, 11 months. She grew up in Otterbein community and was a member of the Otterbein United Brethren church. She was a life long resident of Lucas County. At the age of six months, after the passing of her mother, she was raised by Alice Pulley.
In 1906 she was united in marriage to Homer Wells. To this union five children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Everett Conner and three grandchildren.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband Homer, five children: Marie Young and Roy of Des Moines, Donald, Gerald and Laurel of Chariton, 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, five half-brothers, Lloyd of Ottumwa, Seacel of Peoria, Ralph of Des Moines, Elbert of Silvis, Ill., Harold of Albia and one half-sister, Sarah Evans of Des Moines and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Services were held Wednesday, May 13 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. V. E. Shickell officiated at the services. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery.
