MCALESTER, Okla., June 14 A convicted killer who escaped from an Oklahoma prison with the wife of its deputy warden has died in the state penitentiary following a long illness. Randolph Franklin Dial, 62, made national headlines when he was recaptured in 2005 after more than a decade on the run. At the time of his capture, Dial was living near a chicken farm in east Texas with Bobbi Parker, the wife of former Oklahoma State Reformatory Deputy Warden Randy Parker. Bobbi Parker's role in the incident was still under investigation. Dial was serving a life sentence for the killing of Broken Arrow martial arts instructor Kelly Dean Hogan in 1981. Dial died in the infirmary of the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester Wednesday after a long illness. "I think he'll be remembered as one of the great con artists in Oklahoma history," said Greer County District Attorney John Wampler. "He had a lot of charisma, and he always attracted attention, which he craved."
________________

He was married three times, first to Christina Dial, whom he divorced in 1978; Mary Katherine Dial, married in 1979 and divorced in 1983. Katherine lived in Tahlequah and was killed while Randolph was in prison. And third, Robin Dial, married in 1983 and divorced in 1986.
