Edith was the daughter of James Guy and Elva Mae (Armstrong) Latimer. Along with her three siblings, she grew up on the family farm near Canute and attended the Canute school. During WWII she worked for the government in Hawaii. She was married to Cephas L. Ferguson on Feb. 12, 1947 at Henderson, TX. They made their home on a farm near Tatum, TX, where they reared their five children. A typical farm wife, Edith was a good cook, seamstress and quilter and loved working in her garden. She and Cephas were very active in their protestant faith known as The Way. She also worked for many years as an LPN.

Edith passed from this life at Longview, TX, where she and Cephas had moved to be near their children. He passed away there in 2003.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Lee Ferguson, one grandson, Michael Jay Bass, her sister, Neva Mae Latimer of Tatum, one brother, Loyd Latimer of Elk City, OK, an infant brother, Reed Latimer, an infant sister and one sister-in-law, Wilma Jean Latimer, of Woodward, OK.

Survivors include her children: Sara Louise Braun and her husband, Arlin; Richard Wayne Ferguson and his wife, Bonnie; Nakyta Ruth Summers and her husband, Richard; Elva Mary Bass and her husband, Jay; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; one brother, John Carl Latimer and his wife, June, of Woodward, OK and one sister-in-law, Wanda Williams, of Stafford, AZ.
