A son of Gunder G. Dale and Elsie, nee Hauge, Dale (latter Overland). Lived on the land he was born on and farmed his father's farm for most of his life- until retiring to town in later years. Marcus also attended business college in Fargo, ND for a time and served as a constable in Climax, MN for two years. Married Olga Ness in 1923. They had children: Raymond, Glen, Chester, Amy, Orlen, Donna and Marcus Herman Dale junior who died in infancy (Feb. 17, 1938- Mar. 26, 1938).
