SHERMAN WILLIAM BETTS: 74; BrownsValley, passed away Saturday [11-19] at Holy Trinity Hosp-Graceville. He was born 28 Feb 1914 in TowerCity ND to Lewis & Bertha Arneson Betts He attended grade school in Barry. Sherman lived in Beardsley for a short time & the rest of his life he lived in BrownsValley. He served his country in the USArmy from 1942-45. He supervised the activities & work of Prisoners of War. In the course of his duties it was nec-essary to point out & instruct the men in the work they were to do. He was in charge of a group of 100 men. On 2 Jan 1946 he was unit-ed in marriage to Leone Lubbers in HotSprings SD. Sherman worked as a construction worker & commercial fisherman. His hobbies included yardwork & gardening. He loved children, people & made many friends. He enjoyed the companionship of his dog-Buckwheat.
Survivors include his wife Leone; sons: David & John Lubbers-Rawlings WY; 5 grandchildren; bros: Rudolph-Ortonvl; Raymond-SanFrancisco CA; sis: Myrtle Boblett & Marjorie Cullen-both Rochester. Preceding him in death were his parents; 4 bros & 1 sis.
Service was held Tuesday [11-22] at Zion Lutheran Church-BrownsValley. Officiating was PastorWallace Larson. Pallbearers were Ronald Kallstrom, Loren Sykora, Gary Dardener, Bob Zabel, Steve & Ed Lamers. Honorary pallbear-ers were "all of his many friends." Interment was in Midway Cem-Beardsley. Arrangements by Larson Funeral Home.
