Georgia Ann was born to Elisha and Eletha (Apperson) Jones and grew up in the hardscrabble farming community near the north Schley and Macon county line between Ideal and Ellaville Ga in the post Civil War period. The 1900 census lists her as married for 4 years with a son, Roddie, but with no husband listed in the home. Her son Roddie's obituary lists his father as Frank Jones, of a different Jones family. (By 1900, 32 year old Frank Jones was under the guardianship of his mother according to a July 1900 Probate Document in Marion County, adjacent to Schley County). Frank Jones is buried in a nearby community cemetery (Cartwright Cemetery). A large amount of circumstantial evidence attests to the fact that this is Georgia Ann's husband. A year after Frank's death on 2 Dec 1901 Georgia Ann married John Willis Hickman in Columbus Ga on 24 Aug 1902, and daughter Elsie Bird Hickman was born to them in 1906. Elsie was given the same middle name as Frank's sister, Hattie Byrd/Bird Jones Cartwright. Georgia Ann spent most of the rest of her life in the Columbus/Phenix City area. She spent a short time in/near Atlanta (Buchanan Ga) around 1918-19 when her husband John Hickman worked in a shipbuilding plant. Son Roddie registered with the draft from her Atlanta address in Sep 1918. Her husband John Hickman died in Feb of 1919 after being struck on the head by an unknown assailant in Brunswick Ga, also a ship building area. By 1920 she was back in the Phenix City AL area and working as a laborer in a drywall shop. By 1923 she was married to William A. Duncan.

Her older brother John Wesley Jones was her half brother, his mother being Susan White. Her younger half siblings were Emma, Minnie, and Elisha H. Jones, their mother being the elder Elisha's third wife, Mary.

Georgia Ann's daughter Elsie Bird Hickman married first to Alvin Biddlecome Beck and 2nd to George Robert Hill. George is buried in Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Phenix City Al. Her third husband was Jesse Robert Pressley.

Georgia Ann is buried in plot C-329 alongside Susan Griggs Hickman, the first wife of Georgia Ann's 2nd husband John Willis Hickman.

(Georgia Ann's third husband, William A. Duncan, was married twice previously. First to Minnie Leona "Lee" Hammock, and then to Zilpha Ozella Gassett. He outlived those three and his obituary lists a wife as a survivor without naming her, so apparently was married four times.)

Georgia Ann Jones and her first husband Frank Jones were from two different Jones families. (Marriage year to William Duncan is approximate to facilitate order of marriages on FindAGrave.)
