James A. Hollandsworth, 76, of 910 Owen St., Martinsville, Va., died on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at his home.

He was born on August 31, 1933, in Franklin County, Va., to the late Alfred "Freddie" Hollandsworth and Ethel Prillaman Hollandsworth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Wilson.

Mr. Hollandsworth was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church, Martinsville, Va. He retired from E.I. DuPont after 29 years service as a machine operator and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Shively Hollandsworth, of the home; three sons and daughter-inlaw, Phillip Hollandsworth and Jennifer Hollandsworth, of Rural Hall, N.C., Stephen M. Hollandsworth, of Hampton, Va., and David Hollandsworth, of Walnut Cove, N.C.; one sister, Mattie Robertson, of Bassett, Va.; one brother, Joe Hollandsworth, of Martinsville, Va.; and three grandchildren, Sarah Haymore and husband, Patrick Haymore, of Miami, Fla., Ashley Hollandsworth, of Rural Hall, N.C., and Neil Hollandsworth, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with the Reverend Lewis Harris and the Reverend William Shively officiating.

Burial will be at Henry Memorial Park, Bassett, Va. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 910 Owen Street, Martinsville, Va. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, Martinsville, Va., is serving the Hollandsworth family.
