She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a member of the Lexington County Council on Aging and served with Meals on Wheels for 14 years.
Surviving are her daughters-in-law, Sara Steffen of Orangeburg, Margaret Goff of Pelion; grandchildren, Connie Austin of Charlotte, Carl Whitaker of St. George, Raymond Whitaker of Columbia, Robin Griffin of Saluda, Jerri Palmer of Miami; 10 great-grandchildren.
Services for Lila Mae Whitaker, 99, were held at 11 AM on Tuesday at Calvary United Methodist Church. The Revs. Tom Brittian and Hyo Shik Kim officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 7 - 9 PM at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 2740 Hillcrest NE, Orangeburg.
