Patricia Sue "Patty" Pickles Tapp, 48 years of age, departed this life on Tuesday, August 17th, 2010, at her residence in Somerset, Kentucky, following a lengthy and determined fight with cancer.

Patty was born in Livonia, Michigan on June 10th, 1962, to Donald Pickles and Carol Pickles. She attended high school in Crestwood, Kentucky and received her Bachelor of Arts from Morehead State University in 1984. Patty served in the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, following her commission in the regular United States Army in 1984.

Patty worked with troubled children within the Pulaski County school system until 2007. She loved them all. Patty was a frequent volunteer for community and charitable activities and un-hesitantly gave of herself wherever she was needed.

Patty was survived by her husband, David Tapp; and their three daughters, Katherine Elizabeth, Adrian Johanna, and Morgan Hunter; her parents, Donald and Carol Pickles; and her brother, Michael Tapp; Patty was kind and generous, a friend to all, and is sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

Visitations were conducted on Thursday, August 19th, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Somerset First United Methodist Church, followed by a memorial service at 5:30 p.m.

Patty was interred with honors at a private service at the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.

THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF PATTY,

I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
of happy memories
that I leave when my life is done.
