He was born March 16, 1921, to Charles Albert and Allie Oyler Dunn in Manassa, Colorado. Shortly after that, the family moved to Utah. He married Rae Tibolla on June 7, 1944 in St. Mary's Church in Annapolis, Maryland.
Albert attended the US Naval Academy and served aboard the battleship USS North Carolina in the Pacific Theater during World War II. His further career with the Navy was distinguished by three aviation qualifications: lighter-than-air, heavier-than-air, and free balloons.
In 1954, after resigning his military commission, he began work for Utah Power and Light. He retired in 1987, having risen to the position of Vice President in Charge of Rates.
Albert was a gifted painter in many media, loved music, and golf and baseball. He loved to be with people and was a natural story teller. Above all, he loved his family--his beloved wife and five children.
He is survived by his children: Peggy (Bill) Carrington, Chuck (Tami) Dunn, Lisa (Rocky) Roblez, and Patrick Dunn; grandchildren Heidi (Brent) Matthias, Russell (Monica) Dunn, Michael Carrington, and Zachary Roblez; as well as four great-grandchildren, Breyton, Melina, Hadley, and Cohen Matthias. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; by their son, Michael; and by his siblings, Betty, Marion, and Jared.
