He was born Feb 4, 1914 in Howard, SD and attended high school in Philip, SD. He moved to Sisseton, SD in 1940 and with his brother, Clair, established the Brooks Brothers car dealership. He was a very avid sportsman and loved to golf, bowl, fish and hunt. He also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors working on various projects. He loved being busy. He was a member of the Masons and a Shriner for many years.
He is survived by his son Spencer (Linda) Brooks and his daughter Karamae (Frank) McCauley; his grandchildren, Jessica (Greg) Chapman, Elizabeth (Jim) Bohan and Andrew M. Brooks; his great-grandchildren, Rachel and Clay Chapman,
Quinn Bohan and Sierra Hayes; his sister, Dorothy Burleson and Bernita Hacker and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen S. Brooks, his parents and ten siblings.
