Jackson, James A.—Civil War Pension Application, National Archives, Washington, DC: "The claimant—Jeremiah J. Jackson when he enlisted gave his name to the enrolling officer as J. J. Jackson who misunderstood Claimant and enrolled him as James A. Jackson, which was never corrected. And claimant signed all pay rolls during his service as James A. Jackson. That claimant was paid additional bounty by George Truesdel PM Dec 20th 1867 and filed testimony explaining said mistake in name with his application for bounty."—Jeremiah Jackson, Affidavit
Married Isabel Planck. They were divorced in 1893. He then married Susan C. Nash in February 1896 in Princeton, Indiana. Jeremiah's child was Albert Lee, born in October 1882. The family lived in Illinois, Kansas, and Indiana. In 1906 they were in Birdseye (Dubois) Indiana and in 1912 were living at Hartford (Blackford) Indiana.
Jeremiah claimed pension disabilities of rheumatism, heart and digestive organ disease, jaundice in 1862 which led to liver trouble.
