Claire McKee Compton, passed away peacefully at age 100, Thursday, July 7, 2022.
Claire was born July 24, 1921, in Frankston, TX to William Clair McKee and Lillian Rogers McKee.
Claire worked in the materials department at General Dynamics for 30 years and was one of the first female managers before she retired. Although she received many accolades in her profession, her heart was in serving God by serving others.
Claire enjoyed volunteering with her husband at the Campbell Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and for the benevolence center at her church, managing the clothing room for many years. Claire was a member of South Main Church of Christ, where she loved to worship the Lord and fellowship with her friends.
She adored all her family and found a new joy when she became a grandmother. She loved to sew, play dominoes, grow beautiful flower gardens, bake, and cook for her family and friends. Claire will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Claire was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Graham Stafford Compton; sons, Fredrick K. Compton, Graham S. Compton Jr., Randy M. Compton; grandson, Ryan Compton; as well as two brothers, Jim McKee and Bill McKee; a sister Lella Mae Tipton; and niece Diane Kemp.
Claire is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hancock; son, Joe Compton; sister, Nell Binion; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was expecting two more great-great grandchildren later this year.
Visitation from 6-8pm Monday, July 18, 2022, at the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Memorial Service at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the South Main Church of Christ.
