Ms. Lawanda Denise Rogers was born October 9th, 1972 in Starkville, Mississippi; she was the first of five children born to Lula Rogers- Ligon of Kalamazoo, MI, and her father is Charlse Smith of Hazelhurst, Mississippi. Lawanda graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1993; in 2006 she received her Associates degree from Davis College in Toledo, Ohio. Lawanda was employed at the Anne Grady Corporation in Holland, Ohio; where she was able to display her compassion for working with the mentally disabled. In 2009 Lawanda became a member of Abundant Faith Church; Lawanda moved from Kalamazoo, MI to Toledo, OH in 2009. Lawanda loved to spend time with her family especially her daughter Ashley, her son Shondell, and her grandson Aamir. Lawanda departed this life on Sunday August 1, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center. Lawanda leaves to cherish her loving parents Lula and Major Ligon, her daughter Ashley Rogers of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and her son Shondell Alford of Rex, Georgia, two sisters Alina Ligon, and Deonna Ligon of Toledo, OH, two brothers Karon (Tamiko) Ligon, Lelond (Dominika) Ligon. She also leaves to cherish three very special aunts, Aunt Ann(Darrell) Hunter, Aunt Delphine, and Aunt Mae. Lawanda also leaves to cherish her family in Mississippi and Florida; Charita Smith- Coler (Evan Coler), Drashinda Riley, Jarvis Washington, Charlse E Smith Jr, Chardarius Smith, and several Aunts and Uncles. She is preceded iin death by her Grand parents Rosevelt and Adeline Rogers and a special Aunt Monice (Tina) Flowers. Although Lawanda has departed from this life, she will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
