Frances Lucille Greene, 85, 204 Point Circle, Belmont, died Aug. 25, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia. She was a native of Mooresville, daughter of the late James and Virgie Cooper Godfrey, wife of the late William H. Greene, member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Comforter. Survivors include daughters, Carol Jean Owens, Greensboro, Peggy G. Severt, Mount Holly, Sandra G. Cooper, Fairfax, Va.; brothers, Harry Godfrey, Charlotte, Robert Godfrey, West Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Irene Owens, Cleveland, Nancie Duke, Mooresville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Richard Greene. The memorial service was held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, Lutheran Church of the Holy Comforter, Rev. K. Michael Varn. The family received friends following the memorial service at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Charlotte Chapter, 500 E. Moorehead St., Charlotte 28202. Arrangements are made by McLean-Bumgardner Funeral Home.
