Services were held Wednesday May 26 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald for Christine Schoenberg, 82, who died Sunday, May 23 at the Melrose Area Hospital. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Christine Schoenberg was born May 22, 1917 in Grenora, N.D., to Herman and Mary (Feldewerd) VanDrehle. She married Edmund Schoenberg on May 3, 1937 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. They farmed in Spring Hill Township for 35 years. They retired in 1971, and moved to Greenwald.
She was employed as a cook at Stan's in Greenwald; later she was employed as a housekeeper for Saint Andrew's parish in Greenwald. She was a member of Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald, Christian Mothers, and American Legion Auxiliary Post #612 of Lake Henry.
Survivors include daughters and sons, Marion Spanier of Saint Cloud, Jan Soenneker and her husband Frank of Richmond, Arlene Athmann and her husband Reuben of Cold Spring, Dorine Drimel and her husband Bill of Paynesville, Gerald Schoenberg and his wife Anne of Saint Cloud, Marge Marthaler and her husband Cyril of Saint Joseph, Judy Shay and her husband Mike of Avon, Bob Schoenberg and his wife Liz of St. Cloud, Ron Schoenberg and his wife Dani of Denver, Colorado, Dave Schoenberg and his wife Karen of St. Cloud, Larry Schoenberg and his wife Linda of St. Cloud; 40 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Edmund Schoenberg (1989); parents; twin daughters Katherine and Rita Schoenberg; sister and brother Rose and John VanDrehle, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Paul Soenneker, Travis Schoenberg, Brian Athmann, Brent Schoenberg, Dale Marthaler and Craig Schoenberg. Honorary pallbearers were Leona Frieler, Marie Thull, Bernetta Heinen, Suzie Inderrieden, Delphine Nietfeld, Darlene Kulzer, Charlene Ohmann and Monica Frieler.
