HAMPTON - Dorothea R. Gayle passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010.
Mrs. Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott Y. Gayle Sr.; and her parents, Heywood H. and Helen H. Roberts.
Survivors include three daughters, Virginia G. Hebert and husband, Mike of Gloucester, Helen G. Tyson and husband, John of Suffolk, and Dorothea (Toogie) G. Wedding of Hampton; one son, Elliott Y. Gayle Jr. and wife, Marilyn of Austin, Texas; one brother, H.H. (Bobby) Roberts and wife, Nadine of Hampton; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Donald Tick; and loving caregiver, Sandra Owens.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 14, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Jacob May. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, 23 Semple Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666.
