Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Jane Christenbury, who died Saturday morning at 2 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. I Pruette, of Huntersville, were held Sunday afternoon at Asbury Chapel with Rev. John W. Grier, pastor of the Huntersville Presbyterian church, in charge. Burial was in the church graveyard.
Mrs. Christenbury was the widow of E. A. Christenbury, who died several years ago. She is survived by ten children, a sister, Mrs. Billy Ewart, of Huntersville township; three half brothers, Smiley Harrison and Walker Harrison, of Charlotte, and O. P. Harrison, of Mooresville. The children are: Mrs. Abner Kerns, of Huntersville; Mrs. T. M. Head, of Huntersville; Mrs. M. J. Christenbury, of Cornellus; Mrs. S. I. Pruette, with whom she was living, Mrs. W. C. Pruette and Mrs. C. W. Dauglas, all of Huntersville Township, and M. E. Christenbury of Derita; W. H. Christenbury, of Plant City, Fla; Rev. G. H. Christenbury, of Old Fort; and M. M. Christenbury, of Newell.
In addition to the children, 74 grandchildren and 92 great grandchildren survive. Six grandsons were pallbearers. Mrs. Christenbury was 84 years old. She had been a lifelong and faithful member of the Asbury chapel Methodist faith, where she attended regularly until her health failed.
