D. C. Naval Officer's Child Meets Tragic Death While Playing in New York Hotel Hall

John Marshall Knapp, jr., five-year-old son of Lieut. Comdr, and Mrs. John Marshall [Harrison] Knapp, of 2015 Kalorama road, died last night at the Hotel Bonta, New York, from injuries received when he fell down an elevator shaft.

The boy was playing in the corridor on the third floor and mistook the open elevator door for a stairway.

Besides his parents, the boy is survived by one sister and his grandparents, Gen. and Mrs. W. L. Marshall. He is also a grandnephew of Rear Admiral Glennon, U.S.N. The body will arrive in Washington at 7:30 o'clock tonight, and will be shipped to the residence on Kalorama road. The funeral will be held at 12 o'clock tomorrow with services at the house by the Rev. Charles Wood, of the Church of the Ascension.

Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
