Pvt. William J. (Wilhelm) Trageser, 16th Co, 20th Engineers, died in the torpedoing & sinking of the troopship "Tuscania" on 5 February 1918 in the North Channel between Scotland & Ireland by German submarine UB-77.

He was first buried at Kilnaughton, isle of Islay, Scotland, in grave 48. His body was returned to the U.S. aboard the "Antigone" in September 1920 and re-interred at Arlington.

On the "Tuscania," he listed his brother, S.A. Trageser, of Cottonwood, Minnesota, as his next-of-kin.
