Per death certificate she passed from whooping cough and pneumonia at the age of 3 weeks old.

Story from my mother about her sister Virdie Jo.

When Virdie Jo passed away in Rufe, she was buried in the Valiant cemetery in an unmarked grave. Granny and Grampa never went to visit her at all after she passed. My mom didn't even know about her until they went to move from Rufe to Broken Bow. That was in 1949 or 50. Mom was about 8 or 9.

They stopped in Valiant to look for her grave but since it had been about 20 years since Virdie Jo had passed, they couldn't find it because it had not been marked. All granny and grampa could remember is that it was a few feet away from a tree as you came in from the west end of the cemetery, tree was on the left going into the cemetery.

Mom and I stopped by years ago, I wanna say it was in or around 1998. We didn't see anything but newer graves in the vicinity of a tree that was in the area that she remembered. We contacted the local funeral home and asked them if they had any records of her burial but of course they didn't because some records were lost in the 40's.

I believe she probably has someone buried on the top of her because that cemetery was pretty full at that time we were there.

Hopefully, 1 of these days we can put a marker of some kind near that tree. My mother had asked me to do that for her.

Added her census record to show proof she was alive in 1930. I did have her death certificate saved on my laptop but lost it when it crashed. Have never been able to find her death certificate since.
