Milton Delano served with the Army Air Corps 483rd Bombardment Group during World War II. He was the Ordnance Officer for the 483rd.

My father, Dr. George B. Appleford, was flight surgeon for Squadron 817 of the 483rd and the two men became acquainted in Italy. They remained life-long friends.

After the war, Milton returned to Fairhaven, Massachusetts
and became well known as a scrimshaw artist.
