Son of Henry Dobberthein & Sophia Westfall; husband of Margaret Fries, married March 18, 1891 at Elmira in Waterloo County, Ontario per the marriage record. [Obituary reported marriage as 1890.]

Obituary:

William Dobberthein. William M. Dobberthein, 81, passed away yesterday from the effects of a stroke. Death occurred at the residence of his son Herbert, 269 Courtland Ave. East. Mr. Dobberthein was born at Kossuth in 1867 but had lived in Kitchener since retiring from farming at Linwood and Elora. He was married in 1890 to Margaret Fries of Elmira. His wife predeceased him in 1933. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Besides his son, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James Blinco of Guelph, Mrs. Harry Penfold of Elora; one brother, Jack of Webb, Sask.; three sisters, Mrs. Paul Leudeman of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. John Siatter of Sebring, Fla., and Mrs. Eli Hubel of Orillia; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday from the residence of his son, with a service in the chapel at the Elora Cemetery at 3 p.m. Rev. F. G. Stewart will officiate. The body is resting at Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home until Sunday afternoon when it will be removed to the residence. ['Kitchener Waterloo Record' (Kitchener, Ontario) Sat.
