Sergeant 426871 Gehrmann, RAAF, was the son of Edward and Ruby Gehrmann, of Manly, Queensland, Australia.

He died on 20th October 1943, when on board Wellington Bomber Z1717 which took off from RAF Chipping Warden on a training flight. The aircraft overshot the airfield climbed to 1,000 feet and crashed at 2254 hrs, coming down near Culworth, 16 miles north west of Northampton. There were no survivors. He was 20.
