Betty G. Sanderson, 79, of Monmouth died at 9:20 A.M. Monday, August 16, 2010 at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island.

She was born Nov. 11, 1930 in Warren County, Il the daughter of Dewey and Gertrude (Colburn) Kick. She was raised and educated in Missouri, Arkansas and Illinois. She attended Galesburg Beauty School, Brown Business College, Peoria Midstate College and Carl Sandburg College.

Betty married Edward Bethell and he died in 1962. She later married Keith Sanderson in 1973 and he died in 1998.

Betty owned and operated Betty's Beauty Shop in Monmouth for many years. She later worked for Fassett Real Estate. She loved to read, work with crafts, work in her yard, entertaining her grandchildren and family gatherings.

She was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church, Warren County H.C. E., Monmouth Hospital Auxiliary, Queen Mother of the Maple City Red Hatters, Hang Loose Canasta Club, Monday Bridge Club, Race Horse Canasta Club, O.N.O. Club, and the Monmouth American Legion Auxiliary. She served as a Board Member on the Jamison Center and the Western Il. AAA, both for several years and served on the Central IL. Lupus Foundation.

Survivors include her 3 daughters, Linda Bethell Lee of League City, TX, Judith Bethell Fengel of Monmouth and Janet Bethell (Les) Goad of Monmouth; 7 grandchildren, Amber (Dom) Estrello, Cory Cox, Carrie Bethell, Abigail (Matt) Burton, Zachary (Traci) Fengel, Chelsea Goad and Tiffany Goad; 10 Great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Ruby (Cecil) Miller of Alexis, Maxine Stout of Little York, IL, Martha (Dan) Krotz of Coal Valley, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son , Jerry Bethell; grandson, Michael Fengel; 3 brothers, Leo Kick, Kenneth Kick and Fred Kick.

Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev Kenneth Klein officiating. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where her family will be present one hour prior to the services. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be given to the Jamison Center.
