Born in Ireland, he emmigrated through Ellis Island from the SS Berlin out of Southampton on May 8, 1893. Married Minnie Belle Sisson on March 31, 1897 in Webster, MA. Children were Herbert William, Mildred Belle, Gertrude Louise, Walter Robert, Edward Thomas, and Eleanor Charlotte.
He was the best Grandpa any fresh little kid ever had.

(Scenario: True story) A little kid walks up Grandpa's cellar stairs from the other side of the duplex early on a Sunday morning. Knock, knock on Grandpa's cellar door. No answer. Knock, knock a little louder. Still no answer. "Grandpa, it's me, Billy." No answer. The kid bends down and looks through the keyhole. (A little louder) "Grandpa, it's me, Billy, and I can see you through the keyhole. I've brought my egg and I came to have breakfast with you." After a short delay Grandpa opens the door, Billy goes in, and Grandpa makes tea, toast and a soft-boiled egg for each of them. This scene was repeated dozens and dozens of times. No change in the monologue, no changes in the sequence. Always the same. What a worderful memory for a fresh little kid - Me.
