Vietnam Wounds Claim
Life of Murray GI, 23

MURRAY - Word has been received of the death in Vietnam of Pfc. Neil S. Brown, 23, son of Leonard J. Brown, 349 Vine St.

Pfc. Brown died May 2 of wounds received from mortar fire near the Cambodian border where he was stationed with the Army First Air Cavalry. He was drafted into the Army in August 1968 and received basic training at Ft. Ord, Calif. He had been in Vietnam since January.

Attended U. of U.

His widow, the former Jessica Hatch, is presently residing with her parents in Pittsburgh, Pa.

A 1962 graduate of Murray High School, he attended the University of Utah for two years. He was a part-time employe of Kennecott Copper Corp.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission to the Samoan Islands.

He was born Aug. 7, 1945 in Murray, a son of Leonard J. and Inez Shipp Brown. He married Jessica Hatch Aug. 17, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Murray Rites

Surviving are his widow; father, Murray; two brothers, Clifford J., Murray; and Leonard R., American Fork; two half-sisters, Vickie Lynn and Carrie Jean; both Murray; and three step-sisters, Mrs. Rod (Karen) Milligan,
Granger; Mrs. Robert (Donna) Clark and Mrs. Easton (Barbara) Peterson, both Las Vegas, Nev.

Funeral and burial will be in Murray pending arrival of the body from Vietnam.
