"We see by the Mendon Constitution that Alta Vi Clitia Hardin, the 9-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Hardin, died Tuesday, July 25, 1905, of cholera infantum. The funeral services were held Thursday at 10 o'clock a.m. conducted by Rev. W. R. Enyeart and the remains were interred in the cemetery at old Mendon. Her illness was brief and death sudden, and the parents are heartbroken over the loss of their daughter, who was a very bright and pretty child, having been awarded second prize in the baby show at Mendon the 4th of July. Mr. and Mrs. Hardin have the sympathy of all in their sad bereavement." Chariton Courier, August 4, 1905
