Chad Hicks, age 30, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006 at the Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chad Troy Hicks was born April 4, 1976 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Robert and Mary (Clark) Hicks. He was raised in Emerson, Iowa and graduated from Nishna Valley High School in 1994. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction business. He lived all of his life in the Emerson, Iowa area. He was a member of the Oaks Community Church, was a volunteer football coach for the Firefighters Midget Football team in Lincoln, Nebraska, was an avid Nebraska fan, and loved fishing.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Henry and Mary Clark and Robert Hicks. Survivors include his parents: Robert and Mary Hicks of Emerson, Iowa; brother: Sean Hicks of Omaha, Nebraska; sister: Erin Hicks of Omaha, Nebraska; grandmother: Vivian Hicks of Emerson, Iowa; girlfriend: Samfrances Stamps of Lincoln, Nebraska; and many aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Shores officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established in Chad's name.
