He died on 7th July 1943, on board Wellington Bomber X3160, from 15 Op Training which took off from RAF Harwell on a cross country training exercise. The aircraft caught fire follwing a failure of holding down studs to number 5 cylinder in the port engine. The bomber broke up in mid-air over White Horse Hill, east of Ashbury. He was 19.
