Clara Blanch Pomerenke was born on April 24, 1908 in Ida Township, the daughter of Henry C.A. and Olive (Hasbouck) Schulke. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Carlos Lutheran Church and attended school in rural Carlos. On December 28, 1926 she was united in marriage to Gustof Alfred Anderson at (Svea) Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The couple farmed in Carlos Township near lake Ida. Alfred died on January 10, 1949 after 23 years of marriage. On November 29, 1951, Clara married Julius Pomerenke in Webster, South Dakota. Julius died at his home near Miltona on December 7, 1981.

Clara had been a resident of Knute Nelson Home since March 16, 1994 where she died on October 16, 1994. She is survived by two sons: Gordon and wife Donna Anderson of South St. Paul; Raymond and wife, Bonnie Anderson of Lake Ida; two daughters: Alpha (Mrs. Ruben) Kluver of Alexandria; LaJune (Mrs. Robert) Wollin of Lake Ida; four step-children: Murlin Pomerenke of Yakama, WA; William (Bill) Pomerenke of Milwaukee, WI; Anna May (Mrs. Newell) Cory of Eugene, WA; Russell Pomerenke of Minneapolis; three sisters: Dortha (Mrs. James) Keller of Alexandria; Laura (Mrs. Victor) Sorenson of Shakopee; Elnora Alvin of White Bear Lake; and a brother Norman Schulke of Alexandria.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, two sisters: Vinnie Schulke and Bertha Sorenson; four brothers, Herbert, Vernon, Walter and Elmer Schulke; and a grandson Gary Anderson.

Funeral services were held on October 20, 1994 with Reverend Russell Nebhut officiating. Music was provided by organist Kati Jahnke and soloist Marcia Luedeke. Greg Anderson was the reader.

Interment was in Carlos Prairie Cemetery with Rick Anderson, Ronnie Anderson, Pamela Morelli, Karen Pekarek, Wayne Kluver, and Melvin Kluver serving as pallbearers.

Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
