Mr. Drayer was born in Jay County, but resided most of his life in Delaware and Blackford Counties. During his early years he served with the Muncie Fire Department and in 1932 was employed by Chevrolet-Muncie until 1945. For the next five years he was a farmer in Parker and in Hartford City. He returned to Chevrolet-Muncie in 1951 where at the time of his retirement four years ago, he was sergeant of Plant protection.
Mr. Drayer was a member of Blackford Lodge 106, F&AM, Moose Lodge 33, and Chevrolet-Muncie Sympathy Club.
Surviving are his wife, Winifred (McKinley); two sons, Ted Gary Drayer, Moline, Ill., and Michael Drayer, Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Sue Cain, presently living in Germany where her husband is serving with the United States Air Force; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Weaver and Miss Nelda Drayer, both of Muncie, and Mrs. Gladys Hollowell, Ridgeville; four brothers, Jay Drayer, John Drayer, and Hugh Drayer, all of Muncie, and Keith Drayer of Fort Wayne; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Meeks Mortuary with Dr. Robert G. Sulanke, pastor of Hazelwood Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Blackford Lodge 106 will conduct memorial services at the mortuary at 8 p.m. Monday.
