Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Jasper Wallace and Leathea Cathcart Babb.
Mr. Babb served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II, was a retiree from the Celanese plant and was a home builder.
He was an active member of Boone's Creek Baptist Church of Salem and was a charter member of Crosswell First Baptist Church of Easley, where he served as chairman of the deacon board.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a stepson, Tommy Holcombe and his wife, Debbie, of Easley; two stepdaughters, Kathy Johnson and her husband, Bill, of Easley, and Beth Houck and her husband, Tommy, of Greenville; 5 stepgrandchildren; and 3 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Wylie Babb and his wife, Zuila; and a sister, Gladys Babb.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with visitation from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West.
