Death Claims Civil War Vet - Andrew S. Steelman, 81 years old, veteran of the Civil war and a resident of Springfield most of his life, died at 11 o'clock last night at the family residence, South Fourth street. Mr. Steelman was a retired building contractor, having left an active business life about ten years ago. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Sophia Steelman; three daughters, Mrs. L. W. Coe, Mrs. L. A. Danner and Miss Ruth Steelman; and two sons, Albert and Harry K. Steelman, all of Springfield.

Mr. Steelman was born at Cape May, N. J., and came to Illinois when but a youth and resided in Springfield. At the outbreak of the Civil war he enlisted for the northern cause and was a member of Company B, One Hundred and Thirtieth Illinois infantry. He was a member of Stephenson post, G. A. R.; Modern Woodmen of America and the Royal Neighbors.
