Obituary of Minerva Newspaper source unknown (probably Monroe, Iowa) Jan 9, 1914 "Minerva DeMoss passed peacefully away after an illness of but a few days, at her home five miles east of Monroe, Jan. 9th 1914 at the age of 73 yrs., 2 months and 29 days. Minerva Karr was born in Indiana Oct. 10th 1840. She married Tom DeMoss in 1858. To this union ten children were born, eight of whom are living, two having died in youth. When but a young girl she confessed her faith in Christ and twenty one years ago she renewed this faith and joined the Evangelical church at Red Rock, Iowa. She leaves to mourn her passing an aged husband, eight children, five brothers, one sister, several grand children and a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held Monday P.M. at one at Tool's Chapel. Interment in Fairview cemetery."

Additional information provided by Janice Peay, 9/6/2013 - From the Monroe, Iowa Mirror, Jan. 22, 1914 - Mrs. Thomas DeMoss - From the Monroe Mirror we learn that Mrs. Minerva Demoss, wife of Thomas Demoss, daughter of; George Karr and Eliza Dickey, died at her home 6 miles north of Red Rock, on Friday, January 9, 1914, after a sickness of but a few days, aged 73 years, 2 months, and 29 days. Deceased was born in Indiana, October 10, 1840 and was one of early settlers of Red Rock township. She was united in marriage with Thomas DeMoss in 1856. To this union ten children were born, of whom eight are still alive. Mrs. Demoss had been a consistant Christian since the days of her girlhood and was a member of the Evangelical church at Red Rock, with which she was united in 1893. The funeral services were held Monday, January 12th, conducted by Rev. Fitzsimmons. Burial in the Tool cemetery.

Minerva Jane DeMoss, born November 10, 1841, aged 73 years, 2 months, married, born in Indiana to George Karr (born in Indiana) and Eliza Dickey was a housewife. Died January 9, 1914 of endocarditic, attended by Dr. F.L. Smith. Burial was in Lust Cemetery on January 11, 1914. The Undertaker was C.A. Latcham of Monroe. Informant & Address was Thos. DeMoss of Monroe, Iowa.
