Charles Bjerstedt of Mann Valley died December 2, 1908 at his home on the farm on which he settled 46 years ago. He was born in Sweden in 1829 and came to this country over 50 years ago and settled at Marine, Mn. From there he moved in 1862 to the farm in Mann Valley where he passed away. Mr. Bjersted was married twice and had three children by his first wife and four by the last. His wife, four sons and three daughters survive him. The children who mourn his departure are Mrs. Geo Kline, Woodstock, Ill.; Miss Ingra Bjerstedt, Afton Minn.; Mr. Wm Bjerstedt, Dawson, Mn.; Mrs Paul Frederick, Afton,Minn.; Erick Bjerstedt, Mann Valley and Elmer and Isaac who are at home on the farm. The funeral will be held at the Swedish Mission Church in Mann Valley next Sunday at 1 o'clock. The sermon will be preached by Rev. Odell, pastor of the church. Mr. Bjerstedt was actvie in the affairs of his community and during his stay of nearly half a century made many friends who will regret his departure. (River Falls Journal, Dec. 3, 1908)
