ALEXANDER
Miss Artie Alexander died of cancer of the stomach, Monday, 6 o'clock a. m., at her home near town. She was a lady of culture and refinement, a citizen of energy and enterprise and a faithful and devout christian. She was sixty-three years of age and for fifty years had been an active and useful member of the Baptist church and for most of that time a teacher in the Sabbath school. In her death her immediate family have sustained a great loss, and the loss is not to them alone but to her church and the entire community. She was a daughter of Samuel and Mary Alexander, both deceased, was born, reared and educated in this community and here, spent all of her useful life. She had many friends and not one enemy. She met grim visage death without the slightest fear and passed through the dark valley leaning on the strong arm of her Redeemer. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Bell Taylor, wife of Rev. Brooken Taylor, of Smithland, and Miss Amelia Anderson, wife of Mr. Andrew Anderson, of Fayette county, and two brothers, Messrs. Wm. H Alexander, of Fayette county, and Edgar Alexander, of this county. The funeral was conducted, yesterday, 10 o'clock a. m., at the Baptist church, by the pastor, Rev. J. F. Williams; and the interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

**Grave is NOT marked.
According to Spring Hill Cemetery records, Artie (Artemisa) Alexander is buried in Section B, lot 5, grave 11. We located lot 5 in Section B and were not able to locate a marker for Artie. There are several other members of the Alexander family buried at this location. Hattie Alexander, b. 1859, d. 1903, who has a stone marker, is buried in Section B, lot 5, grave 9 which would be two grave sites to the left of Artie. There is sufficient room to the right of Hattie’s marker for two graves but there are no markers."
