From Holland St. John - "Volley (she sometimes used her middle name Emaline) was born in 6 Sep 1844 and was the daughter of Robert H. and Margaret (Burlison) Duckworth. Her parents had developed a very successful farm in Black Township, Posey County, Indiana and were well respected members of the farming community. On January 23, 1862 Volley married Jones York in Posey County. By 1870 Jones had established a farm in Black Township north of the town of Mount Vernon which had a value of $8,000. The estimated value of his personal property was set at $3,000. The U S Census of that year lists Jones as being forty-four years of age, Volley being twenty-five years of age and five children were living at home: Andrew (15), Lorenzo E. (12), Margaret A. (7), Victoria (4), and Hannah (2). Also living with the family was Mary J. Murphy (10). The two older children were Jones's children from a former marriage. By 1880 the family had moved to Emma Township, White County, Illinois. Living at home were Jones, Volley, Lorenzo (22), and two more children of Jones and Volley: Robert (8) and Howard (3). After moving to Illinois, their sixth child was born: Limuel. However, the little boy died when he was five years of age. One source suggests that Volley married a Thomas Sanders. However, there has been found no evidence of this marriage. Volley died on 14 Oct 1892 and was interred in the Hodges Park cemetery located in Hodges Park, Alexander County, Illinois next to her husband and youngest child Limuel."
