Grover Benton Biggerstaff

Memorial services were held for Grover Benton Biggerstaff, 97 of Sherman on Saturday Aug 14 at the Western Heights Church of Christ, where he was a long time member.

Grover was born April 22, 1913 in Whitewright, the first of the three children of Noel Benton Biggerstaff and Ora Vestal Biggerstaff.

He married Dorothy Young in May 14, 1937, who preceded him in death in 1964.

He served his country during WWII in the Army Counter-intelligence Corps.

Grover married Dora Wood Rigdon April 24, 1975.

At age 70, Grover retired from the MKT Railroad and he and Dora enjoyed traveling extensively for many years.

Grover is survived by his wife, Dora; daughter, Anne Alexander of Arlington; stepdaughter, Peggy Waddle of Lee's Summit, Mo.; stepson, Robert Rigdon of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Jennifer Alexander, Suzannah Alexander, Brent Alexander, Mechelle Jackson, John Boykin, Amber Graves, Heather Huffman, and Ross Rigdon; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his son William (Billy) Biggerstaff and stepson John Greg Rigdon.

Memorials may be sent to the Hospice Center of Sherman.
