FIRST LIEUT. GERALD C. SIMONS, son of Mrs. Anna Jaeger, 12505 Edgewater Drive, Lakewood, (Ohio) reported by German government to have died of wounds August 3, (1944), first word since he was reported missing on January 30, 1944, in Italy.

Lieut. Simons had been reported missing a
year ago. No word was received concerning
him until his mother was notified that he
had died of wounds. Word of his death
was relayed from the German government
through the International Red Cross.

When reported missing, Lieut. Simons was
serving as a commander of a Ranger Company
in Italy.

He attended John Marshall High School and
was a salesman before entering the army
nearly four years ago. He went overseas
two years ago.
