Well Known Farmer - Funeral

Church Sunday

William Park Herring, aged 67, well known farmer of the Elkton section died at his home near Elkton yesterday morning at 11:30 following an illness of two weeks.

Mr. Herring was born near Elkton March 8, 1869, and was a son of the late Charles and Susan N. Herring. About 45 years ago he was united in marriage with Miss Laura Bell Dofflemyer, daughter of the late Rev. J. W. Dofflemyer. For the past 20 years Mr. Herring has made his home on the Miss Lizzie Miller farm near Elkton. A man of high character, he was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He leaves a host of friends who mourn his passing.

Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: Osby F., Melvin H., Ernest H. and Everette H. Herring of Elkton; J. Walter Herring, of Augusta Springs; Miller L. Herring of Philadelphia; W. Homer Herring of Harrisonburg; Mrs. Flossie Balser, of Waynesboro; Mrs. Fannie Offenbacker, Elkton; Mrs. Rettie A. Johnson and Miss Edith Herring at home. He is also survived by four brothers, Samuel Jerney, George H. and Thomas Lee Herring; one sister, Mrs. S. A. Seekford, of Elkton; 28 grandchildren and one great grandson.

One daughter, Mrs. Stella B. Breeden preceded him in death 13 years ago.

Funeral services will be held from the Elkton United Brethren Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. H. Smith will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Elk Run Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dr. E. R. Miller, O. F. Hopkins, Miller Jarman, H. L. Hensley, Earl Fogel and Vernon Kiser.

Flowerbearers will be Louise Herring, Lillian Herring, Carrie Breeden, Alma Monger, Agnes Baugher and Alice Mowbray.
