Wife of United States commissioner victim of pneumonia after two weeks' illness
The funeral of Mrs. Eliza Fitch Northrup, wife of United States Commissioner A. Judd Northrup, who died yesterday morning at the family residence, No. 297 Green street, will be held to-morrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. Dr. A.C. Fulton will officiate. The body will be placed in a vault in Oakwood cemetery.
Mrs. Northrup's death followed an illness of scarcely more than two weeks with pneumonia. Mrs. Northrup was prominent in affairs of the First Presbyterian church. Her death came as a severe shock to members of the congregation.
Mrs. Northrup's sister, Miss Jessie Fitch, is a patient at the Syracuse Hospital for Women and Children.
Mrs. Northrup was born in this city. Throughout her life she lived here, excepting the time she spent at schools outside of Syracuse. She and Mr. Northrup were married November 24, 1863.
She was a member of the Fortnightly club and the Thursday morning circle.
Her husband, two sons, Edwin F. Northrup, a professor at Princeton, Professor Elliott Judd Northrup of Tulane university, New Orleans; two daughters, Mrs. Louise C.J. Jones of Solvay and Miss Edith Northrup of this city; one brother, Charles E. Fitch and her sister, Miss Jennie E. Fitch, survive.
