He was born May 27, 1920 in Halifax County, a son of the late Victoria Cole Talley and Robert Talley and was married to the late Doris Watts Talley. He was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church, charter member of Cluster Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Halifax County Saddle Club and retired farmer and retired owner/operator of L.R. Talley Grocery.
He is survived by sons, Lawrence Wayland Talley and wife Nell of Alton, Kenneth Owen Talley and wife Jeanne of Strasburg; brother, Melvin Talley of South Boston; sister, Frances T. Puckett of Oxford, NC and grandchildren, Mitch Talley, Chris Talley, Robyn Pottage, Amanda Crevenke, Courtney Parker, Kara Taylor and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Elmo Talley and O'Neal Talley and sister Irene Cole and Ruth Cole.
A graveside service was held Wednesday at Halifax Memorial Gardens with Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating.
