Hampson was the son Pius Combs and Elizabeth (Cody) Combs.

He married Sarah Funkhouser. They had ten Children, Victoria Virginia, Francelia M., Amanda L., John William, James Henry, Mary Elizabeth, Laban Pius, Lorenzo Harrison, Melvina L. and Presley Calvin.

Sarah died on March 9, 1882.

Hampson married the second time to Mary Elizabeth Jane Parker. They had seven Children, Joseph, William Franklin, Angus Robert, Isaac Turner, Annie Rebecca, George Dewey and two infants that died shortly after birth. Mary is buried in the New Dale Cemetery.

Joseph P. (Parker) Combs adopted his stepfather's name at the age of twenty.

Hampson was my great-great uncle.
