Charles R. Wagner
Charles R. Wagner, 78, Laramie, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of William Fredrick and Ruby May (Poore) Wagner. His father died when he was six month old and his mother and half-brother died when he was 17. He was raised by his stepfather, Willard Fletcher, and his aunt Belle and uncle Don in South Coffeyville, Okla. He went to school and worked at the Don Brown Feed Store in Coffeyville.
He met and married Peggy Ann Taylor on Feb. 27, 1953, in Coffeyville, Kan. They moved to Laramie that year.
He worked at several locations in Laramie including the tie plant. He retired fro the railroad in 1995 after more than 25 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and outdoors. He was enthusiastic about his gun collection and was an avid wrestling fan. He enjoyed tinkering around his land and shop. He enjoyed sharing a cup of "blonde" coffee and conversation with his friends. He was a kind, hard-working man and always had a helping hand, putting others first in his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years; his parents; his stepfather; his half-brother; and many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by three sons, Fredrick Wagner, Jeffrey Wagner and Bradley Wagner and his wife, Christy, all of Laramie; seven grandchildren, Shawn Wagner and his wife, Nicole, of Texas, Shannon Wagner, of Gillette, Ryan Wagner of Sheridan, John Wagner of Rock River, Tiffany Cones, Stacy Wagner, Chad Wagner and his wife, Jenevie, and Laurie Wagner, all of Laramie; nine great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
