Charley A. THOMPSON, a long time resident of the Farnsworth community, was found dead in his car, parked beside the highway about five miles west of Gruver shortly after noon Thursday.
The lights were on and medical examiners estimated that Mr. THOMPSON had died sometime around 9:30 p.m. the night before, presumably from a heart attack.
He had been on his way to Guymon, on business, Wednesday evening and evidently became ill, pulled off the highway and died there before any help could come. He was found about noon Thursday.
Funeral services for Mr. THOMPSON are pending, but have been set tentatively for Tuesday afternoon in the First Christian Church of Perryton.
The definite determination of the date and time will depend upon arrival of relatives from Oregon.
He had been a resident of the Farnsworth community for many years, engaging in farming, ranching, and in operating a welding shop. He was born December 19, 1904 and was 62 years of age at his death.
Survivors include his wife, Verlie, of Farnsworth; four daughters, Mrs. Laura URBAN, Midland; Mrs. Shirley HAVLICK, Amarillo; Mrs. Margaret MERCER, Perryton; and Mrs. Ruby BURGER, Spearman; three sons, Charles THOMPSON of Klamath Falls, Oregon; Ralph THOMPSON, Ashland, Oregon; Glenn FREDERICKSON with the U. S. Army in Italy.
Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Bess McDIVITT of Amarillo; Mrs. Artie TAYLOR and Mrs. Ethel TUCKS, both of Fritch, and a brother, John THOMPSON of Amarillo.
Burial will be made in the Ochiltree Cemetery.
