Carolyn (aka Caroline) was the youngest child of Willis H. and Sarah Sofronia (Barclay) Mason. She was a woman of integrity who was dedicated to her six children and lovingly influenced her many grandchildren. She was a seamstress and an avid gardener.

FROM HER OBITUARY: Carolyn F. Tyree, longtime Muskogee resident, died late Saturday in Muskogee Regional Medical Center. A native of Dyer, Ark., she was born June 10, 1904. She spent her formative years at Henryetta, where she finished high school. She was married to Robert J. Tyree at Okmulgee on Dec. 30, 1922. They moved to Muskogee the following year where she maintained her residence for the past six and one-half decades. She was associated with her husband in the building contracting business for many years. He preceded her in death in 1978. Active in community affairs, she was a member of the First Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star and was an avid gardener. (Muskogee Daily Phoenix, 1 August 1988, Sec. B, p.5)
