Alvin E. George
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Friendship Methodist Church for Alvin E. George, 67, of 518 S. Throckmorton St., who died at 8 p.m. Wednesday at a Sherman nursing home.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Thomas Beall, pastor of the Crutchfield Heights Baptist Church and Rev. C.J. Graves, pastor of the Friendship Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Friendship Cemetery under the direction of the Waldo Funeral Home.
Mr. George was born Aug. 28, 1904 at Cumberland, Okla., the son of the late John and Cornelia George. He was first married to Frances Bain in 1921 who died in 1939. He was married to Ruby Gentry McGehee in 1941. He was a Textile worker at Burlington Industries for 22 years before ill health forced his retirement in 1962. He was a member of Crutchfield Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of Sherman; one son, James Alvin George of Grand Prairie; three daughters, Mrs. Theda Fern Gray, Mrs. Sharron Yvonne Pryal, both of Grand Prairie and Mrs. Barbara Holiday of San Antonio; two sisters, Mrs. Cecil Duncan and Mrs. Ernest Maxwell, both of Cumberland, Okla.; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a number of neices and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gene McGraw, Danny L. Short, Russell George, Richard George, Jeffrey George and Kenneth George.
The family plans to be at the Waldo Funeral Home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and at other times at the residence, 518 S. Throckmorton St.
