Wilfred R. DeFayette, 61, of 464 Center Street, North Dighton, a lifelong carpenter, died Monday Nov 16, 1992 at Morton Hospital. He was the husband of Mary R. (Souza) DeFayette. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was son of the late Joseph and Virginia (Davis) DeFayette, and lived in North Dighton for the past 33 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving with the engineer company, and was discharged in 1953 with the rank of corporal. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was a carpenter all his life and worked for the carpenter’s local union # 1305, Taunton-Fall River, on construction work for 35 years, retiring in 1986 after being injured at work.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Joseph H. DeFayette and James R. DeFayette, both of North Dighton, and Staff Sgt. Paul E. DeFayette of the Presidio Air Force Base, Monterey, California; a sister, Loretta Harris of Connecticut; a grandson and granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was at the Woodlawn-North Purchase Crematory in Attleboro. Announcement of a memorial Mass will be made at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Marshall Funeral Home.
