Annie Bell Cowart Thompson, 71, died Thursday, February 15, 2007, under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville and Claxton most of her life. She was a homemaker, and attended Antioch Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Thompson; a brother, Charles Cowart; and a grandson, Ricky Allen Gibson.
She is survived by daughters: Teresa Ehrman, Sheila Thompson, and Joanna Thompson, all of Claxton; sons: Randy Carnes of Glennville, Allen Carnes of Collins, and Shane Dukes of Claxton; sisters: Margaret Stalvey and Virginia Proctor of Glennville and Catherine Jones, Betty Tippins, Carolyn Blocker, and Geraldine Smith, all of Claxton; brothers, Ander Cowart and Wilmer Cowart, both of Claxton; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 18, in the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eric Rentz officiating. Burial was in Antioch Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Shane Dukes, Ian Perdue, Daniel Blocker, Kelly Taylor, Larry Blocker, and Shawn Lands.
Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
